Specialty Coffee
At Mission Coffee Works standing still is our worst fear and we’re on an actual mission to create progress for everyone we work with. And while coffee is what makes it happen, it goes far beyond what’s in the cup. We pay close attention to our product and every step of the supply chain, so everyone gains from the coffee we’re selling.
We don’t think great coffee should be a privilege. So, we source some of the most exciting specialty coffee beans on the market and roast them with care. This means our people get unpretentious coffee that pushes the boundaries for the taste and quality you can expect of affordable beans.
While we’re a special coffee roaster, that doesn’t mean we don’t care about all the other hot drinks you might be serving. We partner with Good & Proper Tea and Islands Chocolate to help you serve a whole range of drinks that create progress for their communities.
You can spend all the time and money in the world sourcing great beans from amazing farmers who are doing great things, but if your team doesn’t know how to brew the coffee, all of your efforts are wasted. As a part of our commitment to making sure that you get the most out of your beans, we offer your team basic barista training so that you can serve an excellent cup of coffee. For those of your team members who want to accelerate their knowledge and skills, we offer SCA accredited courses. Our head of wholesale, Marcello, is an Authorised SCA Trainer, and we host the training in collaboration with one of our machine partners.
If you’re setting up a brand new shop or want to upgrade your existing equipment, we work with machine providers such as La Marzocco and Victoria Arduino to give you the best brewing experience at the best cost. We can help kit your shop out with everything from espresso machines to tampers to V60 filter papers and everything in between.
Making sure that your equipment is well-maintained and serviced regularly will have you time and money in the long run. We can help you put in a preventative maintenance programme that has the least impact on your business so you reduce downtime and can serve consistently delicious coffees.
OUR STORY
Mission Coffee Works was born from a desire to get the best beans to the best people and make sure they know what to do with them. Originally starting as a street van in 2012, we made the permanent move roasting coffee and decided to focus solely on the beans. The beans we deliver our customers up and down the country are not just from us at Mission Coffee Works. Without the farmers, pickers, mill workers, green buyers, and importers we wouldn’t be able to roast the specialty coffee we love. We work with fair and transparent pricing, sustainable relationships, and environmentally sound practices. We always pay careful attention to every step of the supply chain, so everyone gains from the coffee you’re drinking.
We have a long-standing commitment to leaving the world around us a little better than we found it. We are constantly working on ways to improve our impact and how we help our customers reduce their carbon footprint. You can read about some of our current initiatives below.
Buckets & Electric Van
All of our London-based wholesale customers can get their beans delivered in 4kg buckets. Once the coffee is used, we’ll collect the empty bucket with the next delivery. All our deliveries in London are made with our own fully-electrical van.
Delivery Partners
For those outside London, we ship our orders with APC who use fuel efficient vehicles and plan their deliveries to achieve the best route optimisation . We may also use Royal Mail where our parcels are added to already existing delivery routes.
Coffee Sourcing
We are fully aware that shipping coffee to the UK from around the world has a very high impact on carbon emissions. So we don’t get any coffee shipped by air and our sourcing partners commit to only importing full shipping containers.
We set out to benchmark our current sustainability efforts to give us a starting point for improvement. This resulted in our first impact report which you can read here.
