Bells
Regular price £9.00Bells is our classic blend, ready to impress your coffee snob mates but won’t terrify your grandma. Consistent and delicious through any brew method and a fantastic espresso.
Farmhouse, our importing partner, works very closely with around 200 small-hold farmers in Sul de Minas, Brazil, where the hot and humid climate is perfect for growing coffee. The aim is to improve the quality of the green beans so the farmers can access the specialty coffee markets around the world and therefore get paid better for their beans. This particlar lot is from the farm Fazenda Quilombo and produced by Flavio Jose Spineli. He’s a fourth generation coffee farmer and has been learning from his family from a young age. Flavio has also been the director at the local co-operative for eight years, so he has had a critical role in coffee development in the region.
Hermosa from Coopedota Community Members, Costa Rica, comes from Santa Maria de Dota and is grown at 1500 - 1800 MASL. Before the arrival of Coopedota, coffee farming in the area was difficult. The producers had little or no expertise in agronomy, the coffee was sold to middlemen who paid producers unfairly, and there were no wet mills nearby, which meant a long trip to be able to process their coffee. The coffee is picked by hand and pulped mechanically, leaving it super clean ready for fermentation and drying on patios. While they’re left out to dry, the cherries are raked and agitated just enough to ensure even drying without any over fermentation.
Expect tasting notes of chocolate cookie, caramel, and almond brittle.
Recommended brew methods:
Espresso, cafetiere, Aeropress, stovetop
2-star Great Taste 2020 winner:
"A really gorgeous nutty aroma, with hints of caramel and vanilla to create a really rich nose, and very inviting cup. The flavour is rich and balanced, with good acidity, more of the nutty character and some sweetness to add body. The finish is balanced and lingers, with lots of lovely chocolatey notes and a touch of bitterness. Really lovely blend and a perfect roast profile."
